About Joyce

Virginia-based interior designer Joyce Herrod opened her firm in 2008. Hailing from Atlanta and receiving her design degree from the University of Mississippi, Joyce’s approach is steeped in classicism. Incorporating elements of both modern and traditional design allows her to create spaces that uniquely fit her clients’ individual design styles. Her training under renowned architect Keith Summerour of Summerour and Associates Architects and acclaimed Washington, D.C. designer Arlene Critzos of Interior Concepts Inc. further established Joyce as a designer who blends these styles with a timeless, curated, and clean look.

Her skills in interior architecture and design guide her clients through both simple renovations and custom new builds. Joyce’s firm specializes in taking a project from interior drawings to specifying fixtures, finishes, furnishings, and details. Working in Europe and living abroad has given Joyce a special insight into other cultures and customs. This knowledge has allowed her to transform clients’ homes using treasured antiques and artifacts. Breathing life into items from the past is her favorite part of the job. When she and her husband Gregg are not enjoying time with their two children, they share a passion for  garden design.

"Truly, Joyce possesses a talent you do not learn but are born with. Her eye is discerning and acute for details. All of her talents are filled with passion and the desire to create great livable spaces!"
